In this episode, Steve Joachim, USMA ’97, Iraq War Veteran and Cameron-Brooks Alumnus talks about how he created a patent with other engineers on a surgical device that cuts through bone, helped turn around a declining medical device company, and rose to the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain for an $800+ million medical device company and living in Switzerland.
Steve shares that he did some highly unusual things to grow and develop. First, he took a double demotion, then he voluntarily took courses in Organic Chemistry and Biology to help him understand his role, and endured a grueling interview even though he was the least objectively qualified candidate. He got the job!
He has great personal advice for those in the military making a transition decision and for those already working in business.
